News on the Donna Dewberry workshops in PA

Hi everyone! I just got off the phone with Donna, talking over the subject matter for our workshops here in Pennsylvania. She is leaving tomorrow morning for a thirteen day trip, and boy, was it busy in the background! The grandkids just got home from school. I have to laugh because my kids just got home also and I was "hiding" in a room with the door shut to make the call! :o)

So here's the scoop:

There are two all-day workshops, one in New Stanton and one in Cranberry TWP.

Each workshop will start off with a project done on canvas board. Tentatively those projects will be:
  • White Poinsietta
  • Winter Snow Scene
Then there will be a WaterStrokes greeting card project.

The afternoon will be consumed with Strokework.

The Strokework activity will be Donna teaching her patented strokes, breaking them each down. It is an opportunity to learn the building blocks of the One Stroke method, straight from their creator, in her own words. Each person will get ten sheets of bristol board to paint on. This class has gotten rave reviews at the other workshops. Painters have said it was worth more than the price of the whole day to have the strokes broken down and taught by Donna!

There are several people signed up for both days, and Donna said she will make the two Strokework classes different, so it will definitely be worth your while to go to both days. I myself am really looking forward to "re-learning" the strokes and from a teacher's point of view it will be an excellent opportunity to pick up some new teaching techniques! I am glad I am going both days because I don't want to miss any of it!

Each class is just over half-full, so there's still room! To sign up call Amanda Dewberry at 352-243-9206.

There is still room in the Crafty Wave class on Thursday, 11/19, also taught by Donna. E-mail me at danellesdesigns@hotmail.com to sign up.

That's it for now!

Find out what the Crafty Wave is all about!

You've heard bits here and there from me about the Crafty Wave, forecasting its arrival. Well, now it is here!

Here are some basic questions and answers to get you started:
Q: What is the Crafty Wave?
A: The Crafty Wave is an independent company started by Donna and Marc Dewberry. It is centered on painting yet has many facets. It is a wholesale bulk buying program. It is a rewards program. It is an outlet for exclusive products and designs. It is a mentoring program. It offers an in-home event model. It provides a "class in a box" via its kit products. Take advantage of a few or all of its many benefits!
Q: How do I join?
A: Membership is free with your first purchase. Register on http://www.craftywave.com/. You must join "under" someone already in the program. I hope you will choose to sign up under me and join my team! On the Crafty Wave homepage, click on my picture to sign up! I am building an exclusive group/website available only to my team members. It will have all kinds of helpful information on the Crafty Wave, it's kits, and more!
Q: Who are the Creative Team Leaders and what do they do?
A: The Creative Team Leaders (I'm one!) are a group of painters and instructors hand-selected by Donna and Marc to partner with them in creating the Crafty Wave. We are on the front line of the company, providing our diverse experience and perspectives to help build to the success of the Crafty Wave. Despite our various backgrounds we have one critical common attribute: passion for this business. That passion is Donna's foundation of the Crafty Wave, the desire to produce quality products that empower artists to share their talents and creativity and be profitable at the same time.
Q: Who do I contact if I have a question?
A: Your team leader is a built-in-mentor for this program. She can answer or get an answer to all your questions. Your team leader is printed on your membership card. Questions on orders and order status are best directed to the Dewberry Designs office, 352-349-7344. If you call the office, have ready your member number, your team leader, and the order number(s) in question.
Q: How often are new kits made available?
A: There is a new kit released every month, sometimes more. There will be typically two kit shipments a month. Kits can be pre-ordered on-line.
Q: Do I have to buy every kit?
A: No, there are no minimum purchases or quotas to remain a member.
Q: Do I have to buy in bulk?
A: No, you can buy just one kit at a time; however, the shipping cost will be the same whether you buy one kit or five, so it is to your advantage to buy in bulk.
Q: Do I have to hold Crafty Wave events to be a member?
A: No. The in-home model for Crafty Wave events is one of the many benefits of Crafty Wave, but is not a requirement.
Q: Do I have to sign up under the team leader who lives closest to me?
A: No, but it is to your advantage to do so for future training opportunities, etc. You are certainly welcome to choose among the team members based on your own criteria.
Q: What is in a kit?
A: A kit is a "project in a box". It typically includes the surface, instructions, practice guides, patterns, and embellishments. Check each kit's description to see what is included. Use these kits in your classes and save a ton of time on lesson planning!
Q: Are paints included in every kit?
A: No. You have to look at the kit's description. Some kits contain paint and some do not. Companion sets of paint are available for separate purchase to support many of the kits. These sets contain the paint necessary to cover painting approximately ten kits.
Q: Are teaching guides included in every kit?
A: Yes. Every kit contains a teaching guide (also called a practice guide) as well as the project surface. The teaching guide is one of the most valuable elements in each kit. Practice guides alone can cost over seven dollars! A selling point of Crafty Wave events is to teach people how to make handmade gifts at a low cost. Students can take home their practice guide to make their own gifts at home.
Q: How do I find out more about hosting a Crafty Wave Event?
A: Contact your Creative Team Leader for information. If you join my team I will have this information and more at your fingertips in an exclusive group/website.
Q: Is this the same thing as In-Home Art?
A: It is similar, but not the same. Crafty Wave is a wholesale bulk buying program at its core. Another difference is that this company is solely operated within Dewberry Crafts where as In-Home Art was owned and operated by Plaid. For starters, kit costs are lower. Also, you order what you need, i.e. you buy as you go, avoiding a costly inventory investment. As Crafty Wave grows, so will its buying power for surfaces and supplies, passing along even greater benefits to its members.
Q: What is Water Strokes?
A: Water Strokes is a brand new technique coined by Donna Dewberry that teaches you how to get a watercolor effect without the cost of watercolor paint (we use acrylic paint) and without tons of training! It is fast and easy and tons of fun! Water Strokes is being released exclusively through Crafty Wave.
